Unique Gift Ideas from @Hammacher!

If you are looking for unique, special and innovative gifts this Christmas and in the new year, I highly recommend checking out Hammacher Schlemmer's website. They have the greatest selection of unique gift ideas and I could seriously spend all day on their website!

This year, we gifted ourselves with The Complete Modern Waste Station from Hammacher Schlemmer.

This is the 15 3/4-gallon refuse system that enables one to easily separate trash, compost, and recyclables. Unlike cluttering a kitchen with flimsy plastic bins or unsightly outdated containers, this 3-in-1 stainless steel unit provides a space-saving solution that helps keep a kitchen organized while concealing debris. Its power-coated durable body contains a removable 9 1/2-gallon receptacle that accommodates various liners and battles potential odors with six ventilation holes.

A removable drawer at the bottom of the unit provides a bisected 6 1/4-gallon compartment that holds cans, bottles, and other recyclable items. Its one-gallon compost caddy rests on the inside lip of the trash bin and can be removed for convenient placement on a counter when peeling, chopping, and creating compost friendly scraps. The fingerprint-proof lid opens with a gentle touch and a charcoal odor filter (included) attaches to the lid’s bottom. The lid opens to 41 3/4" H and when closed, 31 1/2" L x 15 3/4" W x 11 3/4" D. (23 3/4 lbs.)

This is one of the nicest garbage can we have ever had! We love to recycle and compost so this is great that they are all done in one container! It has cleaned up our kitchen so much - no more piles of compost lying around, no bags of recycling cluttering the kitchen - we LOVE it!

Dino Pet

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

Looking for a unique gift for the man in your life? Rather than the typical power tools, tech gadgets or ties, how about a Dino Pet?

What is it?

Dino Pet is a living art piece, introductory pet, biological magic trick and conversation starter in one Apatosaurus-shaped shell.

The Dino Pet is a new kind of pet that photosynthesizes during the day and glows brilliantly when you play with it at night. The alluring blue light emitted by the Dino Pet is bioluminescence.

How does it work?

Filled with photosynthetic plankton that’s actually living, the Dino Pet relies on indirect light during the day and then through the magic of bioluminescence, the plankton will light up at night when gently shaken. No batteries required!

By using sunlight, water and nutrients, instead of batteries and electricity, the Dino Pet allows you to hold one of nature's most magical occurrences in the palm of your hand. Every year, thousands of people travel the world to experience the magic of bioluminescence in nature. The Dino Pet lets you bring this beautiful phenomenon into the comfort of your own home, and enjoy it night after night.

Consider it a much more modern, educational and cool version of the Sea Monkeys from the days of yore. People travel all over the world to get a glimpse of the natural occurrence of bioluminescence and now you can experience the wonder in your own home – with your Dino Pet.

Far more than a toy, the Dino Pet is a living art piece, introductory pet, biological magic trick, conversation starter and science lesson. The Dino Pet instills a sense of wonder in people of all ages.

Features:

• Optically clear, apatosaurus-shaped micro aquarium
• Fillable with living, bioluminescent dinoflagellates
• Add Dino Food to keep your Dino Pet glowing bright
• Size: Approximately 6"x3"x6"

We LOVED the Dino Pet in our house! Each night our children look forward to giving him a gently shake and watching it illuminate in their dark room!

Plus, every one that has come to our house has been super intrigued by it and want to know how it works! My children love explaining about the dinoflagellates and showing how it glows!
