This year, we gifted ourselves with The Complete Modern Waste Station from Hammacher Schlemmer.

This is the 15 3/4-gallon refuse system that enables one to easily separate trash, compost, and recyclables. Unlike cluttering a kitchen with flimsy plastic bins or unsightly outdated containers, this 3-in-1 stainless steel unit provides a space-saving solution that helps keep a kitchen organized while concealing debris. Its power-coated durable body contains a removable 9 1/2-gallon receptacle that accommodates various liners and battles potential odors with six ventilation holes.

A removable drawer at the bottom of the unit provides a bisected 6 1/4-gallon compartment that holds cans, bottles, and other recyclable items. Its one-gallon compost caddy rests on the inside lip of the trash bin and can be removed for convenient placement on a counter when peeling, chopping, and creating compost friendly scraps. The fingerprint-proof lid opens with a gentle touch and a charcoal odor filter (included) attaches to the lid’s bottom. The lid opens to 41 3/4" H and when closed, 31 1/2" L x 15 3/4" W x 11 3/4" D. This is one of the nicest garbage can we have ever had! We love to recycle and compost so this is great that they are all done in one container! It has cleaned up our kitchen so much - no more piles of compost lying around, no bags of recycling cluttering the kitchen - we LOVE it!
