It’s that time of year again – the start of the 2015/2016 Scotties Facial Tissues 5th Annual TREES ROCK video contest!

The campaign, open to students in grades 3-6 provides them with environmental curriculum and tips about the many amazing things trees do in our community.

To enter, students are encouraged to shoot a 1-3 minute video to tell Scotties why trees are so important. The grand prize winner (determined by a national vote) will receive $10,000 to use on a sustainable project at their school.

Enter in just THREE easy steps:

1. Think about why TREES ROCK! Does your school do something cool for the environment or community? Do you have a favorite tree?
2. Make a short 3-minute-or-less video. Keep it simple and get creative! 
3. Upload your video at scottiestreesrock.com

All videos are to be submitted by November 13, 2015 at www.ScottiesTreesRock.com. The top 10 finalists will be announced in December 2015, and from there the videos will go to a national vote to determine the winner by early 2016. Prize money will be awarded at a celebratory event in April / May of 2016.

You don’t have to be a video expert and you don’t need fancy equipment. THIS CONTEST IS FOR EVERYBODY! People from all over the country could see your video. Enter today!

It’s that time of year again! The 4th annual Scotties TREES ROCK! Video contest is back! Kids in grades 3-5th or 6-8th may now create a 3 minute (or less) video about the importance of trees and win $10,000 for their school!

The video can be many things…

· A skit

· A song

· A dance

· A speech

· A jingle

· A poem

· An interpretive dance

The more creative the better! Just make sure to answer one question “Why do tree rock?” 

Trees Rock encourages individuals or groups of kids in grades 3, 4, and 5 or 6, 7, and 8 to submit a video about the importance of trees. In each group, the grand prize winner (determined by a national vote) will win $10,000 for their school to use towards a sustainable project. The remaining 10 finalists in both groups will not leave empty-handed either and can walk away with prizes ranging up to $7,000.

Essay entries can be submitted online at www.ScottiesTreesRock.com and winners will be announced monthly and be awarded $250 in gift cards.

Scotties created the Trees Rock program out of a passion for the environment and a desire to share the message of sustainability to students. Despite the decline in environmental education at schools, studies have proven that learning about nature enhances “critical thinking and basic life skills” along with establishing “increased engagement and enthusiasm for learning and reduced discipline and classroom management problems”. An increase in environmental education not only helps students in science, but in other subjects such as reading and math. Scotties has conducted outdoor classes and tree plantings throughout the country and seen firsthand the passion and excitement from young people when they learn about the world around them.
