Book Review: Friend Me

A book was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

About the book:

When a lonely wife and her frustrated husband each secretly pursue companionship online, neither dreams that a real woman is behind their virtual creations, threatening their marriage---and their lives.

Scott and Rachel's marriage is on the brink of disaster. Scott, a businessman with a high-pressure job, just wants Rachel to understand him and accept his flaws. Rachel is a lonely housewife, desperate for attention and friendship. So she decides to create a virtual friend online, unaware that Scott is doing the exact same thing. As Rachel desperately tries to re-create a friendship with a friend who has passed, Scott becomes unfaithful and is torn between the love for his wife and the perfection of his cyber-girlfriend. But neither realizes that there's a much larger problem looming . . .

Behind both of their online creations is Melissa, a woman who is brilliant---and totally insane. Masquerading as both friend and lover, Melissa programmed a search parameter into the virtual friend software to find her perfect man, but along the way she forgot to specify his marriage status. And Scott is her ideal match. Now Melissa is determined to have it all---Scott, his family, and Rachel's life.

As Melissa grows bolder and her online manipulations transition into the real world, Scott and Rachel figure out they are being played. Now it's a race against time as Scott and Rachel fight to save their marriage, and their lives, before it's too late.

In today's digital age, the Internet presents all kinds of opportunities to test our personal boundaries, and this exciting and suspenseful story raises important questions about the ethics of virtual relationships. Friend Me will open your eyes to a new---and terrifying---moral dimensions and how they play out in the real world.

My Opinion
I don't normally like the thriller/suspense type of books (I am the lovey, dovey, romance book lover type!), but when I read the description of Friend Me, I was super intrigued about this modern day suspense book and the modern day issues it talks about: internet, online dating, cheating, unfaithfulness in a marriage, technology, and overworking and stress at a job. I also really like that it is a Christian suspense book - you don't find that very often!

This book was really well written and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. However, it gave me nightmares (for real!) at night. With that said, I knew it was a well-written book but not the type of book I enjoy reading. I don't like to get nightmares from books.

However, if you like thrillers and suspense books (like my sister does!), then you will love this book! My sister loved this book and said it was a great book - but for me, it is just not the type that I can fully enjoy because it seriously gives me nightmares! I did like the original and relevant subject for our modern and technological times and it really made me think, that is for sure!

Book Review: Shattered

About Shattered:

With All the Evidence Against Him, Only a Sister's Trust Can Save Him Now

When her prodigal brother Reef's return to Yancey, Alaska, is shattered by his arrest for murder, Piper McKenna is determined to protect him.

Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKennas like family, but he's also sworn to find the truth. And he knows those closest to you have the power to deceive you the most. With his sheriff pushing for a quick conviction, some unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the truth puts Landon's career in jeopardy.

When Piper launches her own investigation, Landon realizes he must protect her from herself-and whatever complications await as the two follow clues deep into Canada's rugged backcountry. Not only does their long friendship seem to be turning into something more, but this dangerous case is becoming deadlier with each step.

Meet Dani:

Dani Pettrey is a wife, homeschooling mom, and author. She feels blessed to write inspirational romantic suspense because it incorporates so many things she loves--the thrill of adventure, nail biting suspense, the deepening of her characters' faith, and plenty of romance. She and her husband reside in Maryland with their two teenage daughters.

Visit her website at www.danipettrey.com.

My Opinion
This book was a second book in a series with "Submerged" being the first book. I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series because it introduces a lot of the characters and brings Shattered's story all together for the reader.

With that said, get ready to buckle your seat belts and hang on as you read Shattered! It is a fast-paced book packed with suspense and romance! I loved watching the story unfold and guessing how it was going to end!

Plus, I love how descriptive Dani Pettrey is about Alaska and how beautiful it is! I can't wait to visit after reading this book!

If you like mystery, suspense and romance, pick up Shattered today (and don't forget to read the first book in the series first!).

Buy It: You can purchase Shattered for $10.98 from Amazon.com
