Over the last few years we have tried making the switch from plastic storage ware and dishes to more eco-friendly and safer dishware like glassware. The one downfall to glassware is that it is easily broken, especially with 3 small children and a clumsy mother. So, I am always on the lookout for quality glassware that is safe for my children and, if at all possible, not easily broken!

But all my glass dishware dreams came true when I was introduced to Brinware. This company is serving up an easy way to be eco-friendly at breakfast, lunch and dinner with Brinware pretty-as-a-picture dishes, mats and bibs. Picky eaters will scoop up every pea or macaroni to see the charming graphic hiding underneath.

Kids tableware has traditionally been plastic bowls and plates but Brinware adds a bit of grown-up glamour with beautiful scenes of a garden party or aquatic life printed onto the back of tempered glass dishes. Yes, glass!

With Brinware, I have no fear of BPA, lead or phthalates. And the tempered glass is cushioned from slips or falls with a colorful silicone sleeve. The results are enchanting and durable. So what is tempered glass? This style of dish glass is “physically and thermally stronger than regular glass because of the rapid heating and cooling process it endures during manufacturing. The plates are rolled through an oven, which heats it to more than 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. The heated glass is rapidly cooled causing the surface of the glass to contract faster than the center giving it added strength.”

We received several super cute and durable kitchen items including the Barn Yard two pack of plates shown above! With a moo moo here and an oink oink there, Old McDonald and the Mrs. would love to serve these to the kids! Plate come with red and orange silicone sleeves.

Constructed from tempered glass with a silicone cover to provide an extra-durable layer of protection and slip resistance, these BPA- and phthalate-free dishes offer an alternative to plastic plates—with awesome whimsical scene to boot. We also received the ABC & 123 Placemat Sets in blue and green. They are so easy to clean and educational. My children love them at the dinner table and I love that it saves many a mess!

Brinware Placemats are made of food grade silicone and are a great addition to the Brinware Plate set. Each placement is easy to clean, won’t retain odors and easily rolls up so it is good for home or on-the-go. When on a picnic or at a restaurant, spread the mat and use as a plate! It might not be something you think of often. You probably don't think about what is in the materials that your children are eating out of or with. You probably don't think about if toxic elements are leaching into your child's food and, thus their bodies. 

I know I didn't think about it much....

Until I was introduced to Kangovou and their mission to create high quality food-grade stainless steel dishware products that are BPA, PVC, phthlatate, lead, and melamine free. All of Kangovou's dishware products are made from quality food-grade, Type 304, 18/8 stainless steel.

Why is this important?

Because you want the surface your food touches to be BPA free, naturally anti-bacterial and to not leach chemicals. Kangovou food-grade stainless steel provides these benefits and is also light weight, durable, does not rust, cleans easily with soap and water, and is top shelf dishwasher safe.

Kangovou outer jackets are also BPA, PVC, and phthalate free. Kangovou uses materials which are free of bisphenol-A, polyvinyl chloride and the chemical phthalate.

Bisphenol-A and polyvinyl chloride are plastics used for making PVC pipes, DVDs and CD’s. Phthalate is a chemical which helps plastics bend.

I now think about these toxic chemicals in not only in my storage containers but in my children's dishware! It is definitely a good idea to keep these types of plastics and chemicals away from our food so I love that Kangovou doesn’t use them in their products!

Overall, I love the mission of Kangovou and their safe, great products! I am definitely conscious now of what my children are eating out of and on and I will never look at children's dishware the same again!
