NEW Pat the Bunny Line from Kids Preferred

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

Just in time for my new baby's birth, Kids Preferred released their new Pat the Bunny line, new for Spring 2014, and the items are perfect in any nursery!

An American classic for 70 years, pat the bunny® is Baby’s First Book and so much more! Considered the original touch-and-feel book, pat the bunny was first introduced to babies in 1940. Author Dorothy Kunhardt incorporated everyday activities like looking into a mirror, smelling flowers and feeling daddy’s scratchy face to encourage interactivity and sensory stimulation. Today, pat the bunny continues to inspire togetherness and first memories between caregiver and child, introducing baby to new experiences like patting bunny’s fur and putting a finger through mommy’s ring. Now YOU can pat the bunny too!

Pat the Bunny has been a favorite character for both my children and I know my third child will be no different especially with these two cute items:

Kids Preferred Pat The Bunny: Developmental Rabbit

The Pat the Bunny Developmental toy will spark young imaginations and hands. This colorful developmental toy offers shapes to grab onto, a tummy to squeeze, a little peek-a-boo and a clip for strollers, car seats and cribs.

Inspired by the best-selling children's book series by Dorothy Kunhardt, it features include peek a boo mirror, rattle, crinkle, multiple rings and teether and various textures. It promotes tactile exploration, auditory and visual development.

Pat the Bunny Book

The original classic touch and feel book that has been entertaining babies for over 60 years. It makes the perfect gift for every baby!

Each page shows Paul or Judy involved in an activity--playing peekaboo, smelling flowers, and, of course, patting the bunny--and then guides the reader to do the same. On the pages are a scrap of cloth with Paul hiding underneath (peekaboo), fuzzy fabric (the bunny), scented paper (the flowers), and five other now-famous features that invite a child to play with the book.

Book Review: Sparky!

A bok was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

Declaring the year of the sloth! Jenny Offill, the ingenious author of 17 Things I’m Not Allowed to Do Anymore and Chris Appelhans, a brilliant illustrator and production designer of the Coraline movie, have joined together to create SPARKY! (Schwartz & Wade Books/ On-sale March 11, 2014 / $16.99/ Ages 4-8), a hilarious, touching picture book perfect for young animal lovers. Like the Caldecott Medal─winning Officer Buckle and Gloria, SPARKY! stars a pet who has more to offer than meets the eye. When our narrator orders a sloth through the mail, the creature that arrives isn’t good at tricks or hide-and-seek . . . or much of anything. Still, there's something about Sparky that is irresistible.

Sloths may not be the best pets, but they are certainly the “it-animal” of the moment. SPARKY! is as adorable and quirky as a sloth. The cuteness galore of the artwork and witty text will have both adults and kids alike falling in love with SPARKY! This year, don’t be a sloth, read a book!

JENNY OFFILL is the author of two previous picture books: 11 Experiments that Failed, a Winter Kids’ Indie Next Book and a Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year; and 17 Things I'm Not Allowed to Do Anymore, a Parenting magazine and Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year. Her second book for adults, Dept. of Speculation, is due out in January 2014. She lives in upstate New York. Discover more at JennyOffill.com.

CHRIS APPELHANS has worked on several films. He was an illustrator and production designer for Coraline, an environment designer Fantastic Mr. Fox, and a visual development artist for The Princess and the Frog. This is his first picture book. He lives in Los Angeles.

Traveling in his open-air Chimpmobile, the Cat takes Nick and Sally to Africa, Asia, and Madagascar, where they meet a barrel full of “monkeys,” including mandrills, marmosets, gorillas, gibbons, gallegos, tarsiers, tamarin, pottos, bonobos—you name it! Along the way they learn the basic characteristics of primates (such as hands that can grasp and forward-facing eyes); how to tell the difference between an ape and a monkey (most monkeys have tails; apes don’t); and most amazingly, that people are primates, too! Fans of the hit PBS Kids show The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, which is based on the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, will go bananas over this latest addition to the series!

Sally and Nick are making shadow shapes when the batteries in their flashlight conk out. Luckily, the Cat knows where they can get some light—from his friend Shimmer, a firefly! But it turns out Shimmer needs some help of her own: her friend Glimmer is in trouble. Fireflies call to each other using unique flashing light patterns, and Glimmer’s pattern is all wrong. He needs help—fast! Can the Cat and Co. un-stick Glimmer from a giant spiderweb and find enough light to put on a shadow show? You bet they can! With glow ink on every other spread and two sheets of glow stickers, this is a fun way to celebrate summer and to spark discussions on how different animals communicate!

A TALE ABOUT TAILS
by Tish Rabe; illustrated by Rom Brannon

While playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Sally and Nick get to wondering: What would it be like to have a tail of their own? And how would you pick the best one? Enter the Cat in the Hat. To help the kids choose, he whisks them off to the jungle to see—and try on—a variety of tails that serve different purposes: a monkey’s tail that is strong for holding onto branches; a quetzal’s tail that is long and colorful for attracting a mate; and a rattlesnake’s tail that makes sound as a warning. Written for children who are ready to read independently, this tale about tails is a fun, funny book that introduces kids to basic comparative anatomy!

Alphablock

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

I am a huge lover of books and I have definitely passed that onto my children! And no matter how many times my husband tells me we have too many books, I just am a sucker for a good children's book that will help my children love learning and reading! This is definitely why I immediately why I instantly LOVED the concept behind ALPHABLOCK, this fall’s new must have children’s book! This book is so unique, fun to read and is great for learning!

It is a beautifully unique way to experience the ABCs . . .a book that reads like a guessing game with pages shaped as each letterform!

With thick pages cut into the shape of each letter, this peek-through guessing game will delight children and parents alike! As children interact with the pages in ALPHABLOCK they will familiarize themselves not only with the 26 letters of the alphabet and associated words, but also with each letter’s physicality—angles, holes, and curves, both front and back. Each die-cut letter in ALPHABLOCK is presented within a two-page-spread that provides visual clues to the word that begins with that letter, inviting guesses before turning the page to reveal the answer. Using fun familiar clues like sprinkles, hot fudge, and cherries to hint at I’s ice cream, aquarium accessories to hint at F’s fish, and flour, sugar and chocolate chips to hint at C’s cookie, this fresh, high-concept ABC book encourages readers to manipulate the alphabet in a whole new way.

This is a very durable book with lots of colors and shapes! It is great for all ages because of the great pictures and large size letters!

I am definitely using Alphablock to teach the alphabet to my daughter and reinforce letters and words with my son! It is fun to look at, learn with, and read!

Buy It: You can purchase Alphablock for $16.95 from Abrams Books

Daddy's Little Girl

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

One of my favorite books to read to my children, especially my son, is the family favorite book, Love You Forever book. I tear up every time I read it to my son and I sing the song in the book to my children every night before bed! My mom loved reading this book and I bet every mother that has read it to their child has a special place in their heart for this book!

I recently found a similar book, Daddy’s Little Girl by Peter Wilson. Daddy’s Little Girl is a heartwarming tale of a father's love and growing relationship with his daughter as she transitions from infancy to maturity. This book is a beautifully rhyming book that gives the view of a Father's relationship with his daughter as she grows up (opposed to the mom to the son in Love You Forever).

I absolutely LOVE this book and I cannot wait to give it to my husband and daughter for Christmas and watch for many years as they read it together. I know my husband will have the same connection to this book that I do to Love You Forever and I know my daughter will love hearing this book for years to come! Hopefully someday she will give this book to her husband to read to her daughter to someday because it meant so much to her growing up!

I think reading books to our children is such an important part of a day but I love even more when they have such a great story line with such meaning! The rhyming is so easy to listen to and read and Peter Wilson has done an AMAZING job with this book!

Buy It: You can purchase Daddy's Little Girl for $13 from the Daddy's Little Girl website.

Young Authors' Treasure Box

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

My favorite thing to give my children is definitely BOOKS! We have more books than my son can possibly keep track of but he loves each and every single one and I love watching my daughter learn a love of books now too! I love to sit down, cuddle and read and I love watching them sit down together and read books too!

So you can imagine how happy and excited we all were when I was contacted by Young Authors' Treasure Box about receiving one of their great childrens' subscription boxes containing great books and other coordinating products!

The boxes are customized for either a boy or girl and by age appropriateness. The box contains 4-7 reading books (paperback or hardcover), pens, pencils, bookmarks, DIY blank writing books, designer paper, pencil grips, and reading and writing guides. In addition, you may find stickers, illustrator tools and writing how-to guides and more.

Each box will follow a theme, genre or author to expose young authors and writers to a variety of works. Each treasure box contains age and grade appropriate reading and writing adventure material.

#1 Infants through 4 Year Old
#2 Kindergarten through 2nd grade (Boy or Girl Appeal)
#3 2nd Grade through 4th Grade (Boy or Girl Appeal)
#4 4th Grade through 6th Grade (Boy or Girl Appeal)
#5 6th Grade through 9th Grade (Boy or Girl Appeal

How It Works:

Pick the Box that works for you:

2) Bi-Monthly Boxes for either a boy or a girl contains 4-7 reading books (paperback or hardcover), pens, pencils, bookmarks, DIY blank writing books, designer paper, pencil grips, and reading and writing guides. In addition, you may find stickers, illustrator tools and writing how-to guides and more. Bi-monthly boxes are billed bi-monthly at $45.00.

In addition, you may find stickers, illustrator tools and writing how-to guides and more. Yearly boxes are billed once per year at $200.00. You will receive 1 month free and free shipping on each yearly box. Supplies are Limited.

This is an awesome way to boost your child's vocabulary, fluency, knowledge about content topics and writing skills. It's a tutor in a box.

Each box will ship every 2 months but, within the box you will find an abundance of material worth the value to keep young authors engaged. It is the same as a monthly subscription at a cost of $20.00 but instead of receiving the box every month you will receive a box every 2 months at a cost of $40.00 which saves on shipping charges.

The box we received this month!

I received a great box for Infants-4 Years Old so it is perfect for both my children! The theme was the author Gail Gibbons and we received a couple of books written by her along with a great supply of art supplies that coordinate with the subject of the books! It is a great way to talk about the books and do projects that correlate to the book! This will be perfect when our home school year starts!
.
So if you love books in your house as much as we do in our house, we will love the Young Authors' Treasure Box! It is a great gift/surprise each month and it is a great way to discuss, read, and enjoy books of all types and for all ages!
