Baobest Baobab Fruit Powder

As I have mentioned before, it is Hearth Health Month this month and I have another great product to keep your heart strong and beating for many years to come: Baobab, the true king of superfruits!

If you are like me, I am sure you have never heard of Baobab before! That is why I am so excited to introduce you to it because it is one powerful (and ORGANIC!) superfruit!

Baobab's unique combination of fiber -- 50% by weight with 75% of that soluble fiber -- and antioxidants -- more than blueberries, pomegranate, goji berries and acai -- reduce inflammation throughout the body, of great benefit to the circulatory system and the heart.

Did you ever think there was such a thing as a perfect fruit? Well, Baobob is as close as it comes! It is a fruit so nutritious, so packed full of goodness, that people have been nourished by its bounty for centuries! It requires almost no processing while maintaining maximum nutrient potency and synergy!

And the Baobest™ brand baobab stands out from the rest for these many reasons:
  • More antioxidants than any other superfruit, even acai, blueberries and pomegranate.
  • Exceptional fiber – more than half is ultra-healthful soluble fiber.
  • A raw, whole food.
  • Organic.
  • Ethically and sustainably harvested.
  • The planet’s highest plant source of calcium.
  • More iron, potassium, magnesium and Vitamin C than most other popular super foods.
  • Tastes great and is fun to eat.

I received the Baobab Fruit Powder to try out and my family is definitely big fans! My children like it in their oatmeal and water and I drink it in my water too! I love that it is organic and bursting with antioxidants! It tastes pretty good too! My son asks for it everyday!

Baobab Fruit Powder is simply one of the most nutritious foods on earth. They add absolutely nothing to the Baobest™ Fruit Powder – no sugar, no sodium, no preservatives. The Fruit Powder dries naturally on the tree in South Africa and is simply ground into a fine powder. That’s right, no freeze drying, heat extraction or pasteurization to upset nature’s nutritional synergy. And because they employ the most stringent quality control processes possible – tracking the fruit from its tree of origin through the moment it is hermetically sealed for shipment – each batch of our Baobest Fruit Powder is 100% pure.

Baobab is a tangy addition to juices or plain water. Just one teaspoon is all you need – or two if you like a thicker drink – to add great flavor and a cornucopia of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to your diet.

You can also:
  1. Add it to yogurt or smoothies for an antioxidant rich treat.
  2. Stir a spoonful into breakfast cereal or oatmeal.
  3. Mix it into the batter for pancakes, waffles or other baked goods.
  4. How about baobab sherbet or ice cream? Delicious and nutritious.
  5. You can even add it to tea, marinades or sauces.
So next time you are looking to add A LOT of nutrition to your diet and keep your heart healthy, try Baobest Fruit Powder and drink it, eat it or cook with it!

Buy It: You can purchase all Baobab products from the Baobab Foods online store.

Show Your Support for American Heart Month!

Have you or someone you know and love been affected by heart disease, heart attacks, or other heart related problem. I bet you have because heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. My grandma and grandpa have both had heart attacks and it is very scary!

Well, February is American Heart Month and it is such a great cause to be aware of because heart disease is preventable and controllable!

And if you are a woman, this month you should be supportive and aware of the Go Red for Women initiative! To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.

Go Red For Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them the tools they need to lead a heart healthy life.

Go Red For Women's mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives all that they do.

In order to show your support this month for the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women movement, make sure to check out and wear their super cute clothing, bags, and fitness items to show your support!

I REALLY love this Heart and Torch Furry Fleece Ladies Jacket. It is SO SOFT and comfortable and my children just want to snuggle me when I wear it! Plus, I am proud every time I wear to show my support for the AHA!

I also love the American Heart Association Step-in-Tune Pedometer. It helps me be aware of how many steps I am getting everyday and keeps me keeping my heart healthy with exercise!

As an athletic trainer, I really know the importance of proper exercise, diet and nutrition to keep your heart healthy, especially for us women! Make sure to become knowledgeable about your heart health, especially this February, American Heart Month!

Buy It: You can purchase all AHA Go Red For Women products from the American Heart Association online shop.

Blood Pressure Monitors Review and Giveaway

Make sure to check out and enter to win the Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor in a separate giveaway post. You can enter to win the Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor at the bottom of this post.

February is American Heart Month and in honor of this very important month, I wanted to share some great health and wellness products that RadioShack offers!

· The Panasonic ® EW3109W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor shows both blood pressure and pulse readings simultaneously and readings above 139 on systolic or 89 diastolic will automatically flash on the LCD screen. This device has an impressive memory feature with the ability to save 90 readings, and the one-touch operation makes it simple to use.

·The Panasonic ® EW3006S Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is a more petite version of the Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor. This device provides quick and reliable measurements with just a touch of a button.

My Opinion
A huge part of any health check is a blood pressure check. Blood pressure can be a very important indicator of any heart or health problems.

With my last pregnancy, I had very high blood pressure towards the end of the pregnancy. I had to go in for frequent checks and I really wish I would have had these handy blood pressure monitors from RadioShack back then!

Luckily, this time, I have a very normal blood pressure but I get a little nervous now that I am nearing the end, that it will skyrocket again. I am so glad I have these easy to use monitors so that I can check my blood pressure anytime!

My favorite blood pressure monitor was the Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor because I feel it was the most accurate. However, the wrist monitor was more portable so it is great too! When I go back to work someday as an athletic trainer, the wrist monitor would be the one I could carry easily with me to events!

The Upper Arm monitor was super easy to use and easy to read. The cuff went on just like a regular b.p. monitor at a doctor's office but they had easy to use directions too if you forget!

As you can see on the picture below, the monitor is REALLY easy to see and read and I love that it gives pulse at the same time too!

I was happy to see that the monitor read pretty consistently with what my midwife visits have been telling me so I was happy to see it was accurate!

If you are looking for an easy way to keep an eye on your heart health and blood pressure, then you have got to invest in the two easy-to-use blood pressure monitors from RadioShack - the Upper Arm and Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors! They are easy to carry around, read, and are accurate!

Buy It: You can purchase Upper Arm and Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors online on RadioShack.com and at local RadioShack stores.

Win It: RadioShack is generously offering (1) Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor a lucky winner! (Make sure to check out the separate giveaway offering the Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor)
