Gifts for Dad from D-Link

A product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.

Stumped on a gift for the Dad in your life this Father's Day?? Then try this out this year: tech not ties!

What dad really wants is a shiny new gadget that’s both fun and practical.

Here are two suggestions from D-Link for today’s connected dad:

D-Link AC1900 Wi-Fi Router

($179.99)

With so many tech gifts on the shelves, dad needs a router that delivers extremely fast 11AC Wi-Fi speeds, creating a maximum-performance wireless network designed to handle high-bandwidth activities – like HD streaming and lag-free gaming – even in the farthest corners of the house. With dual-band technology, dad can perform simple Internet activities on the 2.4GHz band and more demanding activities on the cleaner, interference-free 5GHz band, plus an all-new user interface makes it easier than ever to control a network from a smartphone or tablet.

The D-Link DIR-880L Difference means faster Wireless Networking because it uses advanced AC beamforming to provide up to a full 1900 Mbps* wireless connection with concurrent 801.11ac and 802.11n wireless clients. It also operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands to allow separation of traffic and enable users to participate in high-bandwidth activities, such as video streaming, online gaming, and real-time audio, without affecting low-priority traffic like email and web surfing.

The DIR-880L is mydlink-enabled to support remote access and management from a mobile device. It supports the mydlink SharePort™ app, allowing users to share files, stream videos, view photos, and play music; SharePort Plus also supports printer sharing.

I love how you can schedule filters to be active on certain days, or for a specific range of hours or minutes.

And it is super easy to set up! The DIR-880L allows users to control what information is accessible to those on the wireless network, whether from the Internet, or from a company’s server. Configure the router to specific settings within minutes.

Wi-Fi Pan & Tilt Day/Night Network Camera

($119.99)

This camera lets dad keep an eye on the things that matter most. Equipped with integrated motion sensing and night-vision technology, the DCS-5020L features 4x digital zoom for surveillance even in pitch black environments. The free mydlink app provides pinch-to-zoom viewing, drag-and-drop reordering of devices, two-way audio, remote pan and tilt, and video play back from cameras featuring a microSD/SDHC slot. And unlike other popular brands, D-Link cameras are easy to install, manage and completely free to use, making this a gift dad won’t have to pay for in the long run.

What really makes this camera stand out from the rest is how easy it is to use and how it doesn't require any special hardware or software! It can even run independently even without a PC. This camera is also mydlink‐enabled, which means users can view and manage the camera through the mydlink website or through the mydlink mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

The DCS‐5020L can send e‐mail notifications with snapshots or video clips whenever motion or sound is detected. Users can customize the motion and sound detection by selecting specific areas of the video to monitor for motion and set volume thresholds to detect when a sound is picked up by the camera.

This is great if you want to keep an eye on your house, your kids or pets!
